On Tuesday 17 May at 12:30, Benjamin Mac Donald defends his PhD dissertation entitled "Involuntary treatment of patients with anorexia nervosa".
A new PhD project with the overall purpose of reducing involuntary treatment and improving treatment for anorexia nervosa has been conducted.
The overall purpose of the PhD project was to gain knowledge that can help researchers and clinicians understand when and how involuntary treatment is used to inform approaches to reduce involuntary treatment and improve treatment for anorexia nervosa. The project involved a register-based study, a combined register- and health record-based study, and an interview study. The project explored the distribution of involuntary treatment events over time, factors associated with multiple involuntary treatment events, factors associated with restraint, psychopathology associated with involuntary treatment, and experiences of patients who had received multiple involuntary treatment events.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in Auditorium C114-101, entrance C, C110, Aarhus University Hospital, Palle Juul-Jensens Boulevard 99, Aarhus N. Please read the attached press release for more information.
