On Friday 2 June at 14.00, Lisa Carlson Hanse defends her PhD dissertation entitled "Mimicking the pulmonary valve- in vitro and in vivo investigations of two innovative surgical procedures".
Children born with a heart valve malformation will undergo 3-5 open heart surgeries largely due to an optimal valve solution. We have tested two surgical techniques, one that repairs the pulmonary valve and one that replace the pulmonary valve, in a machine and in an animal model. In these proof-of-concept studies, both techniques were sufficient and did not cause stenosis.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in B-Konference, Aarhus University Hospital, Palle Juul Jensens Boulevard 99, Aarhus. Please see the press release for more information.
