The PhD Committee

The PhD committee plays an advisory role to the graduate school management. The PhD committee consists of seven representatives from the academic staff (VIPs) and six PhD students from Health who are elected by and among the academic staff and the PhD students at Health, respectively.

In accordance with the Danish University Act, the committee has the following responsibilities:

  • To make a recommendation to the dean for the appointment of a chair from among the PhD committee’s academic staff and a vice-chair, if applicable, from among the PhD committee’s students.
  • To make a recommendation to the dean about the composition of members of the assessment committee.
  • To approve PhD courses.
  • To prepare proposals for internal guidelines for the graduate school, including PhD guidance, to the Head of the Graduate School.
  • To make statements about the evaluation of the PhD programmes and guidance to the head of the graduate school.
  • To approve applications for credits and exemptions.
  • To make statements relating to the area of the committee in all matters of importance regarding the PhD programmes and guidance presented to the committee by the dean or the person authorised by the dean.

In addition, the PhD committee’s academic staff representatives make recommendations to the Head of the Graduate School about approving the enrolment of PhD students.
