Graduate Programmes

All PhD students are enrolled in one of the Graduate School of Health's three Graduate Programmes (GPs). The three GPs are: Biomedicine, Public Health and ClinFO.

The foundation for the GPs is formed by the five departments at the Faculty of Health: Department of Biomedicine, Department of Public Health, Department of Forensic Medicine, Department of Dentistry and Oral Health, and Department of Clinical Medicine.

You are enrolled in the GP that reflects the department of your main supervisor’s employment.

The Heads of the Graduate Programmes hold the responsibility for courses and PhD degree programmes and form the graduate school management team together with the Head of Graduate School. They have a mandate to make decisions regarding enrolment, courses, supervision, awarding of degrees, etc.

You and your supervisor can also seek advice about your PhD studies, your project and supervison from the Heads of the Graduate Programmes.

You can read about our three GPs here.

Subject-specific programmes

PhD students can boost their scientific profile by joining a subject-specific programme within neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammation.

These programmes offer a tailored package of activities targeted specifically at Health PhD students who wish to undergo specialised PhD training. The programmes are headed by dedicated and recognised AU-researchers who wants to support PhD students in strengthening their scientific profile and being an active part of a strong scientific community.

You can read about the subject-specific programmes here.

Graduate programme versus subject-specific programme

A subject‐specific programme is not the same as a graduate programme. The three graduate programmes maintain responsibility for courses and degree programmes, while the subject‐specific programmes will be responsible for activities within the subject‐specific programme.
