On Friday 2 May at 14:00, Anders Guldhammer Skjerbæk defends his PhD dissertation entitled "Psychometric properties and differences across common measures of walking capacity and ability in patients with multiple sclerosis – implications for clinical practice and research".
Walking impairments are a common and disabling symptom in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS). However, a variety of walking capacity and ability tests are used in clinical practice and research, which may influence treatment decisions and the interpretation of research results. Consequently, there is a need to investigate the quality and differences between commonly used walking capacity and ability tests, as well as an understanding of the degree of walking impairments and variations across these tests in persons with MS.
This new PhD project from Aarhus University, Health, has therefore investigated the psychometric properties of commonly used walking capacity and ability measures and their differences, as well as the degree of walking impairments and differences across these tests in Danish patients with multiple sclerosis.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place at the Danish MS Hospital, Klostervej, Ry. Please see the press release for more information.
