On Friday 22 August at 14:00, Ida Kaad Faurschou defends her PhD dissertation entitled "Risk and Prognosis of Pilonidal Sinus Disease: An interdisciplinary approach including epidemiological and clinical trial research".

Ida Kaad Faurschou will defend her PhD thesis on the surgical management and epidemiology of pilonidal disease. Her research investigates risk factors for re-operation and explores potential improvements in treatment strategies for this common condition among young individuals. The thesis is based on large national register-based cohort studies and a randomised controlled trial, highlighting both the incidence of the disease and the outcomes of surgical interventions. The project aims to improve the clinical management of pilonidal disease and to lay the foundation for more individualised treatment approaches
