On Tuesday 2 June at 12:00, Saeideh Tavajoh defends her PhD dissertation entitled “Inflammatory resolution capacity as a determinant of cardiometabolic health and disease in human subjects”.
In her PhD project, Saeideh Tavajoh investigated how inflammatory processes are regulated and resolved across metabolic phenotypes in humans, with particular focus on differences between metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), and how these processes relate to adipose tissue remodeling and metabolic health.
The findings revealed that metabolically unhealthy obesity is associated with impaired regulation and resolution of inflammation, as well as less adaptive remodeling of adipose tissue.
Overall, the project contributes to a better understanding of why obesity affects individuals differently and highlights the importance of tissue-specific and dynamic inflammatory mechanisms in cardiometabolic disease. The findings may support the future development of more personalized prevention and treatment strategies.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in Auditorium Verdensrummet (A201-170), Entrance A, Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, Aarhus University Hospital. Please see the press release for more information.
