We hope this course will help you navigate the Danish higher education teaching context and gain a better understanding of the culture, rules, and regulations at Aarhus University. The course will:

  • Introduce the background information on the Danish education system
  • Describe key cultural aspects of teaching students at AU
  • Provide information about the study rules and regulations

Learning outcome

By the end of this online course, you will be able to:

  • Identify key aspects of the Danish higher education system
  • Reflect on Danish teaching culture and describe how it will influence your teaching approach
  • Locate and analyse relevant course descriptions in relation to the rules and regulations governing teaching at Aarhus University
  • Explain how learning activities can support your teaching
  • Identify connections between grade descriptions and grades in the Danish 7-point scale

Content

Our main aim is to inspire and empower international teachers at AU by providing you with knowledge, tools, and methods for teaching and facilitation in higher education.

This self-paced online course can be completed at your convenience. In total, it should take no more than five hours to complete. You can work through the course in sections and return to it whenever it suits you.

The course covers the following themes:

  • The Danish higher education system
  • Danish university teaching culture
  • Rules and regulations
  • Teaching at the university
  • Assessment and grading

Throughout the course, you will explore different themes related to teaching at AU. Each theme consists of relevant content and an activity to conclude the section.
