Immune and tumor determinants of immunotherapy response in multiple myeloma

Call for applications for a fully financed PhD fellowship

Project description

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a bone marrow cancer of plasma cells with poor prognosis that affects 300 Danes per year. Novel immunotherapies have revolutionized the treatment landscape of the disease, including bispecific antibodies. Bispecific antibodies are antibodies that concomitantly target endogenous T cells and antigens presented on the myeloma cancer cell membrane, redirecting the patients´ own immune system to attack the disease. While bispecific antibodies are promising for treating patients with MM, a fraction of patients present poor response due to unknown mechanisms. In this project, we will apply advanced molecular histology, spatial transcriptomics and TCR sequencing to patient samples from the TALTEC clinical trial (newly diagnosed patients reciving sequencial bispecifics) to elucidate the mechanisms of treatment resistance. 

The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated and pasionate scientist with experience in bioinformatics and, preferably, analyses of spatial transcriptomics datasets.
