The PhD Day is an annual event taking place in January as a joint venture between the PhD Association and the Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University. The day seeks to bring PhD students together and network across the broad diversity of scientific fields within health sciences that are represented at the faculty.
The PhD Day takes place 22 January 2021, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been converted into an online event via Zoom.
The use of online platforms for conferences will continue, even after the current pandemic is over. For that reason, the PhD Day 2021 is an opportunity for you to become acquainted with this event format , and to practice your presentation and networking skills in a virtual environment.
The PhD day is, as always, a chance for you to present your research to your peers as well as to more experienced researchers, and therefore we encourage you to submit an abstract for the event. The event also offers the chance for you to act as co-chair during the presentations, giving you the opportunity to get experience with acting as a scientific panel member in a conference.
The PhD Day will as always include a keynote lecture. This year, it will be given by Malene Hein, Coach and COO and co-owner of Play Your Talent. In addition, we invite you to join us for the Fogh-Nielsen prize competition and for the JCD prize award ceremony.
See our video about the "don'ts" when you participate in an online conference, and see our quick guide "Seven sins on Zoom" so you are well prepared for your presentation on Zoom.
PhD Day is a mandatory part of the PhD programme at Health. It is expected that all PhD students participate actively in PhD Day at least twice during the enrolment period by submitting an abstract and doing a presentation or acting as co-chair. Absence due to e.g. maternity/paternity leave, sick leave, illness, or studying abroad is of course allowed.
Once you have submitted your abstract, you are automatically signed up for participation in the PhD Day.
All supervisors are invited to participate in the PhD Day, and to contribute as chair for an oral, a poster or a flash talk session.
Participation in the PhD Day does not grant ECTS (as of 1 January 2019).
