There are two annual open calls, one in the spring semester and one in the autumn semester. When there is an open call it is advertised here.
To apply for a research year, you must be enrolled at Aarhus University in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme in either Medicine or Odontology. If you wish to do your Research Year between your Bachelor's and Master's degree programme, you must be admitted to the Master's degree programme and start your programme with special leave,
To be enrolled as a research year student, you must apply for enrolment and have your project approved and financed.
In our open calls you can apply for enrolment only and therefore need to have financing for the project at the time of application.

All research year applications are evaluated based on material submitted within the deadline, based on the review process for research year applications. Please notice that your application will be rejected if one or more mandatory elements are not received within the deadline.
When all applications have been assessed, you get a reply to your application (see the timeline below).

Please note that research year students cannot postpone their starting date. Meaning, applicants offered a research year in the May application round must start the first coming 1 September. And applicants in the November application round must start the first coming 1 February.
